Romani Artists: On the Front Lines for Human Rights

Celebrate April 8th, International Romani Day, at the Old Capitol Museum Senate Chamber, with a panel discussion by Romani artists and human rights advocates. Glenda Bailey-Mershon, author of "Eve's Garden," will speak on her experiences as a Romani author. George Mahia Vasilescu is a Romani artist from Romania recently featured in the New York Times. Dr. Oleg Timofeyev of the University of Iowa will speak and perform Romani music. Els de Groen, President of World Artists Initiative Khetanes, will speak on the Romani movement of using art to promote human rights.
